| Creeps - Enjoy the Creeps
|
(Tracks On Wax WAX-1001 Swe-86 VG+ 375:-)
This Swedish retro act from Älmhult, Småland, aims squarely at mid-’60s garage rock, aping the bands that aped the Yardbirds, but thanks to inspired playing and inventive arrangements, they succeed in adding to the tradition rather than just running in place.
Recorded with period-appropriate atmosphere (i.e. a thick, dirty echo), the Creeps bang out nine originals, delivered with power and precision.

| Zamla Mammaz Manna – Familjesprickor
|
(Silence SRS-4662 Swe-80 VG+ 400:-)
Samla Mammas Manna fused jazz-rock and music associated with circus and theatre. Their unique sound has made them one of the most internationally acclaimed bands of the Swedish Progressive Movement.
After their 1976 tour, the band took a break which led to guitarist Coste Apetrea leaving the band. As influential as he was to Samla's style, it was inevitable that their sound would change with him out of the group. Eino Haapala filled the void, and as the band took on a more improvisational approach, they also changed the spelling of their name to Zamla Mammaz Manna.
Their final album, 'Familjesprickor', appeared in 1980. Lars Hollmer and Eino Haapala then formed Von Zamla.

| Zetterlund, Monica - Waltz for Debby
|
(Philips P08222-L Swe-64 VG(+) 2750:-)
One of the greatest albums ever cut by Swedish vocalist Monica Zetterlund -- a landmark album that has her singing with the Bill Evans Trio!
The album was recorded in 1964, with a spare sound that's quite different from most of Monica's other work. As usual, her vocals are wonderfully cool and icy, and she runs through a strong set of material that includes a few jazz standards, a few jazz versions of traditional Swedish material, and a remake of "Waltz for Debby".
The vinyl plays with a few scattered surface noises, nothing really bad; the sleeve is VG+.
