Fentones - The Mexican

The Fentones started out as the group behind Shane Fenton (aka Bernard Jewry, later known as Alvin Stardust). This EP collects their two singles made for Parlophone - instrumental guitar pop in the style of The Shadows.

John Lawrence Finneran,was born in New York City. His only hit in the U.S. was 1962's "Dear One", which went to #11 on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100.

In the mid-1960s Finnegan moved to Sweden, where he had more hits. In 1966 he started his own record label SvenskAmerican, which published his own records - for example the singles "Good Morning Tears" and "Bound for Houston" - and also records with the Swedish group Sven-Ingvars.

The Four Pennies were an English, 1960s pop group, most notable for their 1964 UK chart-topping song "Juliet". The Four Pennies were probably the most commercially successful UK vocal/instrumental group that failed to chart in the United States, during the so-called British Invasion.
